Beyond our world lies Terra…
Explore the kingdoms, people, history, and mysteries of the Guardians of Life Series.

Lepersteed
Lepersteed is a peaceful agricultural region located in the heart of Terra. Known for its fertile farmland and hardworking people, it serves as one of the primary sources of food, livestock, and trade goods throughout the realm.
Unlike many regions of Terra, the people of Lepersteed rarely practice elemental magic. Instead, they rely on craftsmanship, agriculture, and the natural rhythms of the land. Farmers, merchants, blacksmiths, and traders form the backbone of the community, helping sustain neighboring settlements across Terra.

At the center of the region lies Main Street, a bustling gathering place lined with markets, shops, inns, bakeries, butcheries, and blacksmiths. Nearby stands Town Hall, where the Mayor oversees local affairs and community matters.
Lepersteed is the home of James Lander and his closest friend Ethan. It is also where Eva and Abela became important parts of his life, while the mysterious Radion is known to visit the region from time to time.
Behind Town Hall rests a beautiful garden centered around a statue of the Guardian of Water, one of the region’s most treasured landmarks. Following the events of Destroyer, a permanent portal was established beside the statue, creating a direct passage between Lepersteed and Rocksmear. The portal strengthened trade and friendship between humans and dwarves and remains a symbol of unity throughout Terra.
Though simple in appearance, Lepersteed is considered the heartland of Terra—a place where hard work, community, and hope continue to flourish.
Argus Island
Far beyond the southern waters of Kumartal lies one of the most protected and mysterious locations in the known world—Argus Island.
Few have seen it. Fewer have stepped upon its shores.
For centuries, kings, queens, scholars, witches, explorers, and adventurers have sought access to the island, yet almost all have been denied. Even the rulers of Kumartal, one of the most respected centers of magic in Terra, are forbidden from entering without permission from the Argus family. The island remains isolated from the affairs of the world, protected by ancient traditions, powerful guardians, and secrets older than recorded history itself.
Argus Island is the ancestral homeland of the Argus family, the legendary bloodline entrusted with the Elements of Light. While kingdoms have risen and fallen throughout history, the island has endured, remaining a sanctuary for the family and a symbol of hope during the darkest ages of Terra.
Unlike any other land in the world, Argus Island is alive.

At its heart stands the Grinda Tree, an enormous ancient tree whose origins remain unknown. The Grinda Tree is unlike any other tree found throughout Terra. Its massive roots stretch beneath the entire island, weaving through mountains, forests, valleys, rivers, and stone. Many believe the island itself is connected to the tree, as though the Grinda Tree and Argus Island are one living being.
The roots of the Grinda Tree produce rare minerals, unique plants, and magical properties found nowhere else in Terra. Strange flowers bloom throughout every season. Crystal formations emerge naturally from the earth. Rivers carry traces of elemental energy. Entire forests seem to shift and adapt as if guided by an unseen hand. The very soil appears aware.
Many travelers who have been granted entry speak of feeling watched, protected, or even guided while walking upon the island. Whether this is the work of the Grinda Tree, the spirits of the island, or something older remains unknown.
Rising from the sacred roots of the Grinda Tree is the legendary Earthaean Castle, the ancestral home of the Argus family. Rather than being built entirely from stone, much of the castle appears to have grown alongside the tree itself. Massive roots intertwine through walls, towers, chambers, and courtyards, creating a living structure that has expanded over countless generations. Some sections of the castle continue to grow even today, responding to the needs of the family and the will of the island itself.
The connection between the Grinda Tree, Earthaean Castle, and the Argus bloodline remains one of Terra’s greatest mysteries.
The Argus family possesses abilities that have puzzled scholars for centuries. Unlike most humans, members of the bloodline are naturally connected to the Light Elements of Earth, Air, and Water. Their mastery of these elements often rivals, and in some cases surpasses, that of elves and dwarves. More remarkable still, many Argus are capable of learning Dark Elements without immediately succumbing to corruption, allowing them to achieve a balance rarely seen among other races.
Their longevity is equally mysterious.
Argus family members often live far longer than ordinary humans, though no one fully understands why. Scholars from Kumartal have studied the bloodline for generations, yet no explanation has ever been found. Some believe the answer lies within the Grinda Tree itself, while others believe the family carries an ancient blessing older than the kingdoms of Terra.
Among the Argus, certain children are regarded as especially gifted. Twins and triplets are considered sacred blessings of the Grinda Tree and are believed to possess stronger elemental bonds than other members of the bloodline. Their abilities often complement one another in extraordinary ways, allowing them to accomplish feats impossible for a single Argus alone.
Children born blind, deaf, mute, or with other uncommon traits are held in the highest regard. The Argus do not view such conditions as weaknesses. Instead, they believe these children possess deeper connections to the elements, nature, spirits, and the unseen forces of the world. Throughout history, many of the family’s greatest seers, healers, leaders, and elemental masters emerged from among these gifted individuals.

Every child of the Argus bloodline is born upon Argus Island. Deep beneath Earthaean Castle, within the sacred roots of the Grinda Tree, each child is given a personal sanctuary. These chambers are believed to awaken alongside their owners, changing and growing as the individual matures. To the Argus family, these sanctuaries are among the most sacred places on the island.
Among the most treasured possessions of the Argus bloodline is the mysterious Argus Stone, a relic passed from one ruler to the next for countless generations. Now in the possession of Princess Celestia Argus, the stone is believed to possess powerful defensive properties against magic and appears to share a unique bond with members of the Argus bloodline. Its origins remain unknown, making it one of the greatest mysteries of Argus Island.
Argus Island is guarded by the legendary Avions.
These winged warriors possess immense strength, speed, intelligence, and elemental power. Found nowhere else in Terra, the Avions are believed to have existed alongside the Grinda Tree since ancient times. Their loyalty belongs solely to Argus Island and its protection.
They patrol the skies endlessly and serve as the first line of defense against any threat that approaches the island. Many believe the Avions were created by the Grinda Tree itself and entrusted with the protection of both Earthaean Castle and the Argus bloodline.
The island is also home to creatures rarely seen elsewhere in the world. Dragons soar above mountain peaks hidden within the island’s interior. Fairies dwell among sacred groves touched by the Grinda Tree’s magic. Spirit beasts wander ancient forests. Mysterious creatures inhabit valleys, caves, and remote regions that remain unexplored even by the Argus family themselves.
Some areas of the island remain forbidden. Ancient pathways disappear into forests untouched for thousands of years. Mountains conceal ruins older than recorded history. Deep caverns descend beneath the roots of the Grinda Tree, leading to places few dare explore. Even the Argus family acknowledges that not every secret of the island has been uncovered.
The First Destruction nearly erased the Argus bloodline from existence.
When King Olen unleashed devastation upon Terra, entire branches of the family were wiped out. Ancient sanctuaries fell silent. Bloodlines vanished. The tragedy was made even more painful by the revelation that Queen Terbara Olen carried Argus blood, linking one of the greatest tragedies in history to the family itself.
The loss shattered the Argus people. Many fell into despair. Some disappeared into isolation. Others died under mysterious circumstances. Entire generations were lost.
Yet from the ashes, one branch endured.
Among the surviving bloodlines, the descendants of King Aron Argus endured.
Today, King Aron and his family represent the largest remaining direct bloodline of the ancient Argus lineage. Through sacrifice, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to protecting Terra, his family preserved the traditions, elemental gifts, and responsibilities entrusted to the Argus people. While hidden descendants and distant relatives may still exist throughout Terra, the House of Aron remains the recognized heart of the Argus bloodline and the primary guardians of Argus Island.
Many throughout Terra believe their survival was no coincidence. They believe the Grinda Tree itself chose to preserve the House of Aron so that hope would never completely disappear from the world.
Yet death upon Argus Island is unlike death elsewhere.
Many believe the souls of fallen Argus do not fully depart. Instead, their spirits become intertwined with the Grinda Tree and the island itself. Ghostly figures are sometimes seen wandering ancient pathways, standing watch over descendants, or guarding sacred places hidden deep within the forests and mountains.
These spirits are known as the Watchers.
They continue to serve the island long after death. They silently observe, guide, and protect future generations. It is believed that many of the ghosts encountered upon Argus Island are former kings, queens, warriors, seers, and guardians who chose to remain behind rather than pass fully into the next realm.
The influence of the Argus family extends far beyond the island itself. Throughout Terra, descendants and allies secretly serve as observers, protectors, and agents of the family. Some advise rulers. Others watch over ancient sites. A few simply watch and wait. Their true purpose remains known only to the highest members of the bloodline.
The witches of Kumartal often view these hidden Argus with both respect and suspicion. Though the Argus family has long served as leaders and protectors of humanity, many question how much influence they truly possess over the fate of the world.
Despite the mysteries surrounding them, one fact remains certain.
Argus Island stands as a symbol of hope, balance, and survival. It is a living sanctuary where nature and magic exist in harmony. It is the birthplace of the Argus bloodline and the last great stronghold of humanity’s connection to the Elements of Light.
As long as the Grinda Tree continues to spread its roots throughout the island, the heart of the Argus family endures. Through war, loss, and the passing of ages, Argus Island remains one of the last great mysteries of Terra—a sanctuary of hope, guardianship, and ancient power.
Rocksmear
Rocksmear is the ancestral homeland of the dwarves and one of the largest surviving strongholds in Terra following the First Destruction of Olen. Dominated by a colossal mountain visible from miles away in every direction, the region serves as both a fortress and a symbol of dwarven resilience.
Long before the dwarves arrived, the mountain was said to belong to the fairies. For reasons lost to history, the fairies welcomed the dwarves and allowed them to settle within the mountain. Some believe this alliance was guided by the Guardians of Life themselves, who recognized the dwarves’ unique ability to work with both Light and Dark Elements while maintaining respect for the balance of Terra.

Over centuries, the dwarves transformed Rocksmear into a thriving civilization. Beneath the mountain, they carved thousands of tunnels, halls, cities, and trade routes stretching throughout the region. Their greatest city, Yanter, became the heart of dwarven culture, craftsmanship, and commerce. Renowned for their mastery of stonework, engineering, metalworking, and trade, the dwarves became one of the most influential peoples in Terra.
The First Destruction changed everything.
The destruction altered more than their homeland—it altered the dwarves themselves. Following the First Destruction of Olen, the influence of the Guardian of Void spread through the wounded world and forever changed the surviving dwarves. Over generations, their bodies became increasingly connected to the stone around them. Their skin hardened and took on the appearance and durability of rock, transforming them into something unlike any dwarves that had come before.
This transformation granted remarkable new abilities. Many dwarves gained the ability to shape and mold stone with their bare hands, sense vibrations deep within mountains, and navigate the underground world through their connection to the earth itself. What began as a consequence of tragedy became one of the defining strengths of their people. The dwarves came to view themselves as children of stone—bound to the mountain, shaped by the earth, and entrusted with preserving Terra’s foundations.
In the aftermath, the Keymaster ordered many of Rocksmear’s tunnels sealed to prevent further devastation. The surviving dwarves retreated deeper into the mountain, protecting what remained of their civilization while searching for ways to preserve their race. Female dwarves became among the most protected individuals in Terra, and new traditions emerged to ensure the survival of future generations.
Hope returned with the arrival of Ethan and the events surrounding James Lander. What once appeared to be the end of dwarven history became the beginning of a new chapter. Through renewed alliances, the opening of the portal to Leapersteed, and growing cooperation among the peoples of Terra, Rocksmear once again looks toward the future.
Today, Rocksmear stands as a monument to endurance, craftsmanship, and survival. Though scarred by tragedy, the mountain kingdom remains one of the greatest wonders of Terra and the enduring home of the dwarven people.
Kumartal
Known throughout Terra as the City of Witches, Kumartal is the center of magical study, elemental mastery, and ancient knowledge. Hidden among towering mountains and enchanted forests, the city has stood for centuries as a sanctuary for witches, scholars, healers, and spellcasters seeking to understand the forces that shape the world.
The witches of Kumartal study both the Light and Dark Elements. The Light Elements—Earth, Water, and Air—are among the most difficult powers to master, often requiring decades or even centuries of discipline and study. Only a handful of races possess a natural affinity for these elements. Elves, before their numbers were greatly diminished following the First Destruction of Olen, were among the greatest masters of Light magic in Terra. Dwarves also possess the rare ability to learn and wield both Light and Dark Elements, making them unique among the races of the world.

The Dark Elements—Death, Ice, and Void—are often easier to access and generally require less time to develop. While powerful, these elements demand restraint and wisdom, as their influence can easily overwhelm those who seek power without balance.
Fire stands apart from both paths. Neither fully Light nor Dark, it serves as a bridge between the two. Fire embodies destruction and renewal, passion and discipline, making it one of the most complex elements to understand and command.
Among humans, mastery of the Light Elements is exceptionally rare. The complexity of these powers often requires more time than most humans can devote to their study. One notable exception is the Argus family. Unlike ordinary humans, members of the Argus bloodline are often born with a natural connection to the Light Elements, granting them abilities rarely seen among humanity. Their mastery of elemental magic and their role in Terra’s history have earned them tremendous respect throughout the realm.
Kumartal is governed by the Witch Council and the Empress, who rule the city independently from the kingdoms of Terra. While the Argus family holds no authority within the city, they are regarded with great honor by its people. Members of the family are often welcomed as honored guests and are afforded a stature rarely granted to outsiders.
Though many outsiders view the City of Witches with suspicion, Kumartal has long served as one of the greatest centers of learning and magical knowledge in Terra. Its libraries, enchanted gardens, hidden chambers, and ancient traditions preserve wisdom gathered over countless generations.
Mysterious, beautiful, and steeped in elemental magic, Kumartal remains a place where the future of Terra is often shaped long before the rest of the world becomes aware of it.
Selcarth
Selcarth is the largest human kingdom in Terra and the second homeland of the Argus family. While the Argus bloodline traces its true origins to the secluded shores of Argus Island, it was within Selcarth that they rose to become the leaders and protectors of humanity following the First Destruction of Olen.
The kingdom was established after the fall of Olen, when the once-great northern realm was destroyed by King Olen’s actions. In his desperation, Olen used the sacred Orbs of the Guardians against the woman he loved, unleashing forces that shattered the balance of Terra. The resulting catastrophe devastated the north, transformed entire regions into frozen wastelands, and brought ruin to one of the greatest kingdoms in history.

As survivors fled the destruction, many humans migrated south and settled in what would become Selcarth. Though the Argus family traditionally remained apart from the affairs of other kingdoms, their rare mastery of both Light and Dark Elements made them natural leaders during humanity’s darkest hour. Under their guidance, Selcarth emerged as the new center of human civilization.
For generations, the kingdom prospered under the rule of the Argus bloodline. Known throughout Terra for their wisdom, longevity, and unique connection to the Light Elements, the Argus family became a symbol of hope, stability, and leadership among humankind.
That stability was shattered following the rise of the new Destroyer. King Aron Argus fell gravely ill and was believed dead. During the kingdom’s uncertainty, Princess Celestia Argus was deceived by Raymul, a trusted advisor who secretly served the Guardian of Death. Through manipulation and betrayal, Raymul gradually placed Selcarth under the influence of the Guardian of Death, threatening the future of the kingdom and all of Terra.
Today, much of Selcarth remains contested. To prevent the spread of Death’s corruption across western Terra, the witches of Kumartal and members of the Argus family established powerful barrier magic along the kingdom’s borders. These protections continue to contain the growing influence of the Death Elements while the fate of the kingdom hangs in the balance.
Once a beacon of hope for humanity, Selcarth now stands at the center of one of the greatest struggles in Terra’s history. To the north lie the frozen ruins of the Kingdom of Olen, a constant reminder of the devastation caused by the First Destruction. Together, the fate of Selcarth and the haunted remains of Olen continue to shape the future of Terra.
